“New technology, new partners, new questions – one goal.”

Born in 1963, I made my way into the world of banking through what is now called the SIX Group. There I was heavily involved in operational and organisational issues related to the Swiss RTGS system “SIC” (Swiss Interbank Clearing), which is operated by SIX on behalf of the SNB and under its supervision. After about 9 years, I then moved to the Swiss National Bank, i.e. to the system manager of the SIC system. Continued involvement within the SNB in the area of payments and after a few years I took over the complete management of payment traffic (RTGS and commercial). During this time, projects such as the introduction of a completely renewed RTGS system including security aspects and thus the complete conversion of the payment traffic in Switzerland to the ISO20022 standard were carried out. From 2017, after internal reorganisation, I have taken over the responsibility and the management of the entire back office with its operational processing of trade settlement, corporate actions as well as commercial payments. Since the beginning of 2020, I have been working as a advisor for the “Banking Operations Department” of the SNB, where I am also heavily involved in the SSFN project, the Secure Swiss Finance Network (as we have called “our” SCION network for the financial centre).Since the beginning of 2020, I have been working as a consultant for the “Operational Banking” division, where I am also heavily involved in the SSFN project, the Secure Swiss Finance Network (as we have called “our” SCION network for the Swiss financial centre). During all these years, I have also been a member and/or chairperson of various payment committees and also a board member of SWIFT’s Swiss National Member User Group. I have strongly advocated the standardization of payments as well as dealing with topics such as money laundering and fraud prevention, as well as (cyber-)security (e.g. SWIFT CSP).
